SAN SALVADOR, December 23, 2024 – Mi Primer Bitcoin, a bitcoin education non-profit, has launched its Community Hub. This tool enables independent bitcoin educators to get started teaching the open source Bitcoin Diploma with various wikis, but also to get in touch with dozens of educators from similar initiatives from all over the world.
My First Bitcoin, founded in 2021, has seen exponential growth in El Salvador, but also from outside the country. As it continues to teach about bitcoin and financial literacy in the Central-American country, besides developing open source curricula, it’s also providing tools for the international community.
Over the past three years, it has built a network of educators from over 30 countries that embraced the renowned Bitcoin Diploma, the Bitcoin Intro Course and other tools. This so-called Node Network is a decentralized movement consisting of almost 60 projects. With the Community Hub, the non-profit has streamlined the onboarding process of new nodes, but also improved the way all of them can be in touch, and empower each other.
Community Hub
The Community Hub features several categories and features. It has various Wikis that explain how anyone can start teaching the Bitcoin Diploma, with information about “how to organize your first meetup”, to “how to give your first class” to “your first graduation”. After going through all these steps, anyone is ready to join the Node Network.
Secondly, it also has Forum features, where educators can discuss their challenges and share opportunities. It offers a place to share resource amongst each others, place request for co-hosts for online diplomas, or mentorship, but also enables educators to get to know each other.
The Hub is categorized in three spaces: one for the Community, which can be described as the pre-node phase. Secondly, the Light Node-category, which is opened up for those that successfully applied to be part of this curated group of educators. And thirdly, the Full Node-category, which is a place where the votes for the new applicants are cast, and where the mentorship requests from other Light Nodes are discussed.
Arnold, Director of Communications of Mi Primer Bitcoin and in charge of the Node Network, explains:
“We’ve seen a surge in interest for independent but community-led education all over the world. In one year time, we grew from less than 25 to almost 60 projects. To be ready for an even bigger influx of new initiatives joining our movement, we built this Community Hub.”
“We’re now ready to scale up and provide everyone with resources they need in a way more efficient way, whether you are already teaching from the Bitcoin Diploma, or planning to bring this to your country and/or community.”
